Micro-Optic FabricationClose up of 3D printed lenses

With the UpNano 3D printer, arbitrary optics can be printed on various substrates including glass slides, bare fiber, connectorized fiber, wafers, and more. A brief list of the printer’s specifications can be found below.

  • Refractive Index @ 1550 nm: 1.49-1.51
  • Resolution (Max): <200 nm
  • Print Speed (Max): 750 mm/s
  • Print Volume (Max): 40x40x40 mm

Photonic Integrated Circuit TestingClose up of automated wafer test station

Spectrum Lab houses two photonic integrated circuit testing stations; one for die level tests and one for wafer level tests. We have the following resources:

  • C-band tunable source (1490 to 1640 nm)
  • Automated Wafer Probe Station (CM300xi-SiPh - FormFactor) with East + West single fiber and fiber array coupling
  • Manual Die Probe Station (Keysight Technologies) with East + West single fiber and fiber array coupling

Technology Maturation and Device DevelopmentOptical system packaged in a compact box

Spectrum Lab has a long history of prototyping and packaging high-bandwidth opto-electrical systems. Our goals are to take fundamental research out of the lab and into the field and to turn clunky benchtop systems into portable and compact boxes.
