Spectrum Lab
Spectrum Lab is a Montana State University research center specializing in optics, photonics, and quantum projects. We employ staff scientists and engineers, as well as students from the undergraduate to PhD level. We have decades of expertise in educating and training students for careers in the optics, photonics, and quantum industries as well as guiding research spinoffs to local industry.
Mission & Expertise
Our threefold mission is:
- To perform advanced research and development on MSU grown photonic technologies.
- To establish and maintain university-corporate partnerships to effect the transfer of these technologies into Montana companies.
- To provide enhanced educational and employment opportunities for Montana undergraduate and graduate students, enabling our students to perform team-oriented, goal-driven, time-critical research and development.
